The EnwaMatic® connects permanently within a closed loop HVAC system treating a proportion of the main flow, such that the entire systems volume passes through the unit in less than 24 hours.
Side-stream filters provide effective long term water conditioning without the energy losses associated with in-line devices. As the proportion of flow diverted through the unit is less than 1%, the impact on the energy efficiency of the system is negligible.
Once installed the unit begins to clean the system water and establish it's unique chemistry. Connection to mains or cold water services and a drainage point allows a quick and simple backwash procedure to purge trapped solids from the filter bed.
Units are specified on total HVAC system volume.
"Combination of both continuous filtration and water treatment, with low running costs and a structured maintenance regime, provide an excellent water conditioning package".
William Rowe, Consultant Engineer / Director, Integrated Energy Utilities Ltd.

Scale and corrosion control using a combined calcite / dolomite filter
EnwaMatic® Side-Stream Filtration and Water Treatment Units utilise a unique, non-hazardous reaction media of calcite / dolomite composition to regulate pH, alkalinity and hardness. The result is a dynamic carbonate based equilibrium that is self regulating and can react to changes in the quality and quantity of incoming water. The corrosive properties of soft water are neutralised, whilst excess calcium carbonate present in hard water is safely precipitated out within the media bed. (Ref 1, 2, 3) |

Filtration in HVAC systems
By-products of corrosion and scale formation, installation debris and general fouling can create a high suspended solids loading in closed systems. This can impact on the energy transport characteristics of the water and disrupt fluid flow rate and distribution. Particles can become lodged in movable components such as automated valves and will block strainers, accelerate erosion and lead to sludge deposits in low flow areas. EnwaMatic® side stream filtration is to less than 5 microns and independent tests have shown suspended solids in closed systems reduce to levels comparable with potable water. (Ref 1) |
|
Restricting development of microbial organisms
The EnwaMatic® Side Stream Filtration & Water Treatment Units create a harsh environment for bacterial development. pH is maintained above 9, severely restricting cell wall replication whilst conditioning removes the nutrients, flow restrictions and protective layers which promote growth of bacterial colonies. Maintaining a vey clean system allows more effective biocidal dosing and the EnwaMatic® is complimentary to more aggressive strategies aimed at problem species such as Pseudomonas. |
